National Bitters Patent Ear of Corn Glass Bottle, base Reads "ATE" or "RTE"?

I found a Bitters Ear of Corn Glass Bottle where the bottom is stamped "Patent ATE (or RTE) 1867" I was unable to find any information on a corn bottle with this base stamp. Any information would be helpful, thank you

  • My guess is that it should read "DATE", but could not find any examples of this base marking.
  • To my eye, there is a bit of a ghost of the letter "D" so yes DATE is what I believe this is.

    Bill Ham lists three base embossing variations in his book, I am not surprised to see a forth.
