Dating a schenley bottle. Does top match?
Hi. I hoping to decipher the code on the bottom of the bottle I found today and learn more about where it came from, etc.
code:
A (with circle around it) 70 D-9 53 8
Also says "federal law prohibit such sale or reuse of this bottle"
My guess is made in 1953 and once held whiskey.
The cork is stamped "P&T" and fits well enough but I'm not sure it's the original top
Front of the bottle says SCHENLEY
Any info you can share is appreciated. I've learned a lot from this site already and I'm grateful for the learning tools provided here

A quick look at the search results on eBay
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xhorseman+hound+flask.TRS0&_nkw=schenley+decanter&_sacat=0
suggests your stopper likely is not correct.
The date could be 1953 but no guarantee...mold markings were proprietary and there is little known about them.
Here is a picture from eBay of an example retaining its tax stamp and with a stopper that seems to be the most common for this decanter.
