Help Identifying Rectangle Glass Jar With Porcelain Lid

Can someone please help me identify what this item was used for and it's value? Lid says "Edison Made In U.S.A." Jar says "Made In U.S.A. 9BJ5 Corning". Item is 6.75 x 5.75 x 11". Clear glass with what I think is a white
porcelain lid.

It appears to be an Edison radio battery, complete but for the anode and cathode inserts.
