old bottle?

  • As I describe on my website, US law for several decades required such embossing on bottles containing alcohol.

Your bottle dates (likely) from the 40s or 50s.

The key to identifying is the "D-2" marking on the base which indicates the company. I have not yet tracked this one down.
  • Thanks Chris The embossing was what convinced me that the bottle once contained alcohol. i have spent days trying to find out more about it but have found nothing. I find it to be the prettiest in my collection and am quite curious to know more about it along with quite a few others i recently dug up.
  • Cant be sure about exact manufacturer but am closing in on both the Old Quaker brand and Schenley (manufacturer) in association with the D-2 marking.
