Brown glass bottle

edited April 2013 in Question and Answer
I found an old bottle in the woods one day cutting down wood to use for bean poles. The bottle is in my best description brown about 5 inches tall rounded off sides to make a square shape, top has a screw off like as if a lid screwed onto it also on the bottom a funny symbol with numbers are there.. to the left of the symbol is the number 7 to the right is an 8 or 9 (I think 9) and below the symbol is a 10. The symbol resembles the planet Saturn.

  • Hello and welcome.

Your photo of the base is blurry but I can make out the Owens-Illinois mark. This dates it to some time after about 1930.

My hunch is that it was for medicine, pills or perhaps iodine.

Maybe there are some more bottles where you found this one!
