Found: Little Glass Jar with paper inside and strange shimmery green powder!

Hi There,

I am new to glass and bottle collecting although my dad is a life-long collector and finder so I have some knowledge and ability to identify bottles. I found this interesting little glass jar alongside other household jars and bottles aprox from the 1930s. The site was a mill/residential site from the 1800s until it was bulldozed in the 60s. This little jar, my dad tells me was a paste jar, maybe food paste originally, however it would seem the owner has re-used the jar for something else as whilst cleaning it we found a substance containing a shimmery deep greeny/blue coloured powder. My first thought was make up or dye, however we then found a piece of lined paper inside the jar on the bottom and you can see through the bottom that there is a number 3 or a w on the paper. We also found a dark hair which led us to the thought that perhaps it was used for paint and the hair was that of a paintbrush hair? If anyone has any thoughts we'd love to hear them!
