CRITCHEY1 Hello everyone so I'm here as many are trying to identify these bottles. The came from the estate of a guy who collected a large variety things but there was no information on these bottles. I believe they are "black glass" bottles due to the black glass with green tint and the homemade look of them. The shape of two of them look like old rum bottles...but I'm not the expert. Here is some information on the bottles: I myself cannot locate any seams on any of the bottles The all seem to have bubbles or waves in the glass that I ASSUME are just imperfections due to being handmade They all seem dirty but I am afraid of cleaning them due to not knowing how and not wanting to mess anything up. I do not see anything embossed on any of the bottles. No purposeful marks, lettering or numbers that I can see. Bottle 1: 9 1/2" tall x 3 1/2" wide at the thickest part. There seems to be either an object or imperfection on the inside that is above the glassline. It could be a clump of glass or a tiny alien being encompassed in glass (joking but that's what it looks like). I took photos of that thing from the inside zoomed and outside. Bottle 2: 8 1/8" tall x 4 1/2" wide. When I turned it upside down some amber colored flakes came out (See photo). Not sure if it's just dried remnants of the liquid that the bottle held or super valuable gold flakes that will allow me to take a vacation finally. Bottle 3: 8" tall x 5 1/2" wide. Let me know if you need any further photos of something specific. Thank you in advance everyone! Bottle 1 [/ [url=https://postimg.cc/Wd70G3F3] Bottle 2 Bottle 3
Chris Yes, they are black glass. The first two are early 19th century English or Continental. The third is a Dutch / Continental onion. It appears these are all "sea washed" meaning they spent a lot of time in salt water. You will find lots of discussion here on the forum by searching "dutch onion" or "black glass" including this post (https://forum.antiquebottles-glass.com/d/4301-need-experts-to-help-me-identify-age-and-origin-of-black-glass-bottle-stem-and-top) and other posts by @Harry_Pristis

CRITCHEY1 Chris Should I attempt to clean them or is it permanent or only should be done by a professional? Thanks again.
