Battery jar with no marks on the sides.

The jar is 11 1/2 inches tall. Other dimensions are 5 1/2 x 7 inches. Only markings are on the bottom, which are W B 11 and G4 11 1/2 with the number 13 underneath the 11. It is a bit scuffed on the bottom, but no chips or cracks. There are some bubbles in the glass. Is this a common battery jar?

  • Hmm. Such a general unmarked battery jar is not common in comparison to say a cobalt blue Bromo Seltzer bottle or a Pitcher's Castoria (both of which seem to be found by the thousands if not tens of thousands) but they can be found without too much effort.

The related question is whether the collector of such jars cares about the minute differences in embossing on the base. My hunch is no.

I am no expert on battery jars but I see a general value range for the newer, larger rectangular ones...

    Hope this is helpful.
