Value on bottle I found

I have a clear glass bottle that has the seam going from top to bottom. It has a design with the word Schenley in the middle. The top is detailed and has a cork to seal it. The information on the bottom reads "Federal law prohibits sale or reuse of this bottle with the numbers 73 D-9 53 B3. Can anyone help me? Thank you and look forward to hearing a reply.

  • Apparently this is a fairly common decanter so value wise I am thinking $5-10.

I can tell you this held Schenley Reserve, which was a black-label aged product.

There was something of a specialty decanter craze in the 1960s and 70s - major liquor brands used all kinds of historic looking containers for their products....likely capitalizing on the antiques craze and bottle collecting craze of the time.
