Most people would say the Pitkin type flask implies that the bottle was made in the German half post method where a second layer of glass is pushed over the initial gather - such bottles have a noticeable ridge at the neck/shoulder (see examples both old and new here: http://www.bottlebooks.com/germanhalfpost/german_half_post.htm)

This is a 20th century modern remake of 18th c. Steigel type diamond pattern flasks. These were made by the Clevengers and other glass houses in New Jersey.
