McGivers American Army Bitters Bottle, Wheaton NJ

edited February 2013 in Question and Answer
1. Need value of this bottle.
2. Any history data, as I am not coming up with anything on research.
Bottle is a purple shade, and on a rim under the grapes it states the following:
McGiver's America Army Bitters Bottle
3. On bottom it says, Wheaton, NJ
Thank you in advance

This is a modern imitation (many say reproduction, but I believe that is a misnomer since this is not meant to be a faithful copy of an old bottle) made by the Wheaton Glassworks of New Jersey.

This bottle is based on one of similar shape that is marked MCKEEVER'S ARMY BITTERS - the bottle represents a drum under a stack of cannon balls. This original is about 10-1/2" tall and found only in amber.

Wheaton made their commemorative bottles in several sizes - 3-1/4" being the smallest - which were often found for sale in souvenir and gift shops. Colors include purple, green, ruby red and sapphire blue.

You will find a number of them for sale at any time at ebay.comimage but they do not bring much...maybe $5 or so.
