Maybe a whiskey bottle?

edited January 2013 in Question and Answer
I have a bottle found in Christiansted harbor, St Croix, USVI. It is very dark brown or dark green, about a "fifth" size. It apparently had a cork stopper. It has '21' located at the bottom. How old is this bottle and if it's old, what is it worth?
Thanks for your help. Carmen

Intriguing find but it is a common bottle, and yes, whiskey or other spirits was the contents.

It is likely UK made, the three piece mold suggests 19th century manufacture. I cannot tell from the photos whether the lip finish is applied or otherwise.
