Dark colbalt blue small bottle, markers mark? - age?

edited December 3 in Question and Answer

Found this 10cm tall, 5cm by 3cm wide dark colbolt blue bottle in coastal clay bank, New Zealand.

Can't find any info on makers mark, it is a imprint rather than embossed, which looks either like a ship, a pot or a ufo inside an oval.

There is a seam which runs down both 3cm off center sides but not on the neck, lip or bottom.

A small mark, possibly molding mark, low down on one of the 5cm side and has a some air bubbles within glass.

Guessing it's either a citrate of magnesia bottle, but unsure due to small size, or a snuff bottle.

Any help would be appreciated especially with the makers mark, thank you.

  • I am not sure what to make of that maker's mark except to say I believe it is either:

    • a defect in the mold or blowing process
    • grossly distorted from its intentional appearance

Sure looks like a UFO image to me :-)

US Citrate bottles were of a different shape - the wide mouth of this bottle suggests it contained a powder or pills.
