Does anyone know why an old medicine bottle has an embossed maltese cross on the base?
I have an interesting little green Gustav's 'Mellins Infant Food London Bottle, maybe circa 1890. It is full of air bubbles and natural faults, maybe a test run, lol.
But instead of any numbers or what type of milk replacement food it is for what age, it just has a little maltese styled cross embossed on the bottom of the bottle.
Any ideas, or info most very grateful to know.

Hi Evette
I know that the Maltese cross mark was used by several US glass manufacturers - your bottle is of UK origin, it may very well be a manufacturer mark as well.
