Dating a blue Mason jar and value

This jar was a family’s grandmothers jar. It has the Ball logo that seems to be dating it 1910-1923. But clearly has a two side seam, a bottom seam and possible one at lip. There are several imperfections, at least for bubbles, and a line under the first L, see picture below. On the bottom it has a pontil mark and the number 5. Some history on this jar and its value is much appreciated. Thank you,

  • That is not a pontil mark on the base but rather a valve mark. This is a machine made bottle from the early to mid 20th century.

There are literally hundreds if not several thousand Ball jar molds - one would have to dig into the "Red Book of Fruit Jars" to ID this particular one.

As for the Ball Company history, it is all here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball_Corporation
