antique wooden bottles
Could you let me know what these are and the potential value of them. My husbands family came here from Germany in the 1800's and these have been in the family for as long as he can remember. He is 65. They moved to the wine area around Hermann , Mo. They are appx 13" tall with a circumference of about 10 1/2".
Thank you,
Sherry

I have one that is remarkably similar. Have you found any answers. My bottle has a metal and brass plaque with initials on them.
Regards
Did anyone ever get a answer?
I happened to get one in a box from a auction it has no markings that I can see.
I have seen a number of these identical bottles. The answer to their origin can be found here:

The example shown has a label which reads, in part: "The "OLD OAKEN BOTTLE" Originated and Perfected by THE LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN WOOD NOVELTY CO., INC. Chattanooga, Tenn. Made of Genuine Tennessee Mountain White Oak- no red oak employed - Sterilized by Flame and Treated by Our Exclusive Process to Bring Out the Mellow Flavor and Aroma of the Wood"
Sure looks like a tourist gift item for visitors to the southern Appalachian mountain area more than a DIY whiskey aging container.
