I bought this at a Belgium market and was wondering if anyone can tell me possibly the time frame and value of this bottle. It is a dark green with two seams (one on each side )that go all the way to under the lip. There are a few small bubbles and it measures 14 & 1/2 h by 6 & 1/4 wide measured from the bottom.
Looks like the lip is tooled rather than applied which is the key to dating this bottle. Conventional knowledge here in the US would date this to late 19th century however, I seem to recall reading that production of these large demijohns in Europe continued on into the 20th c. with the cork closure.
