Information on old whiskey bottle
Hi there. My son found an old-looking, screw on lid, National Distillers bottle. I’m curious as to the age of my bottle. It has “Federal Law Forbids Sale Or Reuse Of This Bottle” embossed in the glass. The bottom has the following letters and numbers: D1 and underneath that: 60-49.
Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for posting. Your bottle is mid 20th century. National Distillers was a bottler of multiple brands - I have associated them with both the "Old Taylor" brand of whiskey as well as "PM Best" There are likely other brands...

Owen-Illinois glass co. 1949
Many liquor bottles and flasks made by Owens-Illinois have a DIFFERENT mold code configuration on the base, as compared to the way the numbers are arranged on most other types of bottles they made. Typically, it is marked with a number called a “Liquor Bottle Permit Number” followed by a dash and a second number which is the date code. many of the liquor flasks made by Owens-Illinois have the “Diamond and Oval with an I” logo embossed sideways on the base of the container.
