Unusual Shape Jar with Large Screw Top Lid - Whiskey?

I have an unusual bottle which has an hour glass shape along with vertical painted stripes giving this large mouth jar with screw top lid the appearance the top part is floating...I hae reviewed the markings on many whiskey bottles but none that I have come accross seem to have this large of an openning or even a screw top. The marking on the bottom is a D-8. I am not confident that I am defining it correctly....I am assuming that it is from 1958 as well...any help is appreciated..

  • I have discussed items like this elsewhere on this forum.... the 1960s and 70s were big for fancy decanters and carafes such as this for marketing liquor products. It is hard to identify unmarked pieces ..finding a piece with labels and/or packaging is your best bet...
