Regarding the not much information for a business in operation for 36 years - I would say most 19th century and early 20th century local establishments left a very small footprint in history.
Likely they did not advertise.
They probably did get a mention in a city directory but many of those directories are not digitized.
There is still tons of old fashioned library research that needs to be done. The internet is not necessarily the best place for historical research.
