age of bottle - light blue - applied top?

edited December 2011 in Question and Answer
I've got a blue bottle and I don't think the mold line goes up to the top of the neck. It's about 9 inches tall. I don't have a picture of the bottom to attach but there is no mark, just an indented round circle. If you can see the picture of the neck, the ridge on the top of the neck is not evenly shapped so I don't think it is machine made. Any ideas what this bottle is or the age?

  • Your bottle's color would be called deep aqua; the shape is known as a "strap-sided flask." It dates from the third quarter of the 19th century.

An unembossed bottle like this was mass-produced by a glass manufacturer and sold in quantity to businesses to bottle and sell their product.
