Old Bottle

edited April 2018 in Digging Bottles

Yesterday as I was looking in the woods for a new fishing spot I came across what seemed to be an old distillery. In the ruble of sheet metal I found an old green bottle. I've been trying to do research to date it. From what I found online, I have concluded that the bottle was formed with a three piece mold. The green glass has bubbles in it. There is a horizontal seam around the shoulder and 2 vertical seams on the neck. I'm pretty sure that it has an applied neck. The bottle has no embossing except for numbers in the bottom that are either 891 or 168. Any help with dating would be greatly appreciated

  • I think this is a British-made bottle for scotch whiskey. Judging by what I can see of the lip, I'd guess it dates to the earlier side of the TOC.
