I'm thinking fly-catchers -- try a google search and see if you make a hit -- I'll go look through some of my glasswares books. Concept is that you put a sweet liquid in the bottle and hang it or set it out in your barn, etc. It attracts the flies, which fly up through the small opening but then can't fnd there way out. 1880's through mid 20th century -- these in brown & aqua bottle colors (and Victorian "styling") suggest earlier rather than later.
