Green E. REMY MARTIN & CO COGNAC FRANCE BOTTLE

I dug up a green E. REMY MARTIN & CO COGNAC FRANCE bottle on an old farm. E. REMY MARTIN & CO COGNAC FRANCE is embossed near the base of the bottle. The bottle is 11.25 inches tall and the base diameter is approximately 3.33 inches. It has a seam on each side that runs from the base to the top. It has a pontil on the bottom. It also has an embossed oval on upper the side. Is there any way to determine the age of the bottle?

  • Hi, thanks for posting.

I am guessing the mold seam runs clear to the very top of the lip, so this is a machine made bottle. Please confirm. If so, then this is a 20th century bottle, that is, later than about 1910.

It is unlikely that there is a pontil mark on the base.

The appearance of the base may provide some further clues to age. If you can post a clear photo, perhaps we can learn more.
  • The seams do run to the top. The pictures of the bottom are the best I can get. There are no embossed numbers on the bottom.
  • Inconclusive. All we can say is 2oth century. Sorry I could not be more specific!
