Masons jar pat nov 30 1858 pale aqua blue with cross

I believe this to be an original.... I have looked it up several times but I am not an expert. It was from a very old estate on cape cod.. lots of air bubbles and not sure if original cap. Thank you for any insight you have!

  • I do believe you will find similar jars which have been reproduced but this is the real deal.

What you have is called a "midget" mason owing to the narrower mouth size. There are probably hundreds of variants....THE RED BOOK OF FRUIT JARS is the reference which lists them all. Yours has what is called a Maltese cross on the reverse. The lid looks correct.

    Nice find.
