Needing any info about HOLTZERMANN'S STOMACH BITTERS

This is a: milk glass, figural (duck or goose), PATd APRIL 11th, 1871. It is 11/1/2" TALL, 3 5/8" diam. It has a glass insert, with reverse painted lable. Unfortunately it has a 1/2" chip & a piece of the glass insert is missing. I have researched the popular antique bottle sights and Ebay and hv not found anything about this HOLTZERMANN'S BITTERS BOTTLE. I am a long time bottle collector and am familiar with the "cabin" version of this bottle --- but hv never seen this "duck / goose" figural --- so I am assuming that it is pretty rare - too bad it is damaged!!

  • Thanks for posting! The bottle is what is known as an "Atterbury Duck" - blown at the Pittsburgh, PA based Atterbury Company.

You will find another when searching around that has a label that says WHISKEY

Most often one sees this bottle in amber.

Would be great to look up the design patent for the bottle shape...I do recall seeing it once.
