Battery Jar
I have received what appears to be a "battery Jar." It is marked "corning made in USA 9BJ4." It stands about 13 inches tall. At its base is 8 inches wide and tapers down to about 6 and 3/4 wide. It is constructed of think clear glass with indented handles in each side. Here is my question... I brew what is called kombucha, which is a fermented tea, and though the jar has been washed several times and appears very clean, I am wondering if it would be suitable to hold liquid that would be consumed? Kombucha requires several weeks to brew and ferment, so the liquid would have prolonged contact with the container. The jar itself is in great shape, though there is no lid.
