Hello to all,
I acquired this early bottle a while back, and was curious if anyone could give me some insight on what the value might be. As far as my research has gone, I believe that this is an "Transitional English Mallet" and these were made between 1690 and 1740. I bought this from an elderly lady who said it was found in a kelp bed off the southern Oregon coast. It is in nice condition, with slight wear on the base. It still has what appears to be some saltwater film residue on the inside. The neck is off center and leans and leans quite a bit. No damage. I have been collecting bottles for over 50 years, but the super early bottles are not really my jam. I many collect bottles from the gold rush to very early 1900s, Any info would be greatly appreciated! TY!
