Can anyone tell me what my color-less “polka-dot” bottle was used for?

The long neck is smooth, but the body of the bottle has a raised dot pattern. It is clearly machine-made with side mold seams and an externally threaded screw cap. It has a knurled base.

The markings are an “I” within an “O”, for Owens-Illinois Glass Co., 1954 or later. The factory number is a 4. The date number is a 1. The number below the I-O is 6.

I found this bottle probably in the late 1970’s in the woods of Maine.

Can anyone tell me what it might have held back in the day? Soda? Vinegar?

Thanks

Jane

Your guesses as to use are as good as any - your only path forward to identifying the exact product would be to find an example with a label or cap. You can use image search for something like "vintage clear bottle with polka dots or rivets or bumps" - something along those lines.

This reminds me of the Orangina product - similar shape.
