Can anyone here help with this please.
This was found in Shakespeare Bay, adjacent to Picton, in the north of the South Island of New Zealand.
The bay has a long history of whaling and the beach where I found this was definitely used for careening vessels as I have often found pieces of discarded copper amongst the stone.
Hopefully the attached photos can give some a clue as to the origin and/or age of this bottle base.
It is obviously in very poor condition as it has spent a long time underwater.
It is a dark green glass, very thick and very heavy and an irregular thickness.
The inside has a mark on the glass and indentation which looks like it could be from manufacture.
The mark on the bottom will hopefully give someone a clue to its origins.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Cheers
