You are right on the money - this burgundy-style bottle has been used for wine and champagne for centuries, and this one may just be late 19th century like your insulator. It may have a tooled top meaning that band near the mouth is formed from the glass of the bottle or the band may be applied. Applied would be older...this is about the time that the glassblowing technique switched to tooling.
