Well, today we call this medical waste. Hospitals and medical offices separate needles, sharps and medications to keep them out of the general waste stream for safety reasons.
I asked a doctor who has been practicing for over 40 years...he thought these were at least that old. There is really no way to say what is inside.
Consider that they might contain a controlled substance so I would think twice about selling them on a venue like ebay (or anywhere else for that matter) since this would be illegal!
