Sorry, I meant to respond to your posting sooner. Bizarre bottle indeed - any kind of metal inlaid into glass as part of the manufacture is very unusual. One has to wonder WHY?
I suppose if the metal was proud of the glass it might help prevent or slow the trickle of ink down the side of the bottle?
