This is an earlier 20th century bottle
As is frequently the case, the answer lies with finding a labeled example....I had an idea of what the bottle held which saved a lot of time.
Found this listing on ebay.
My mother worked in the McKesson Bridgeport plant during or just after her college years - the building was torn down 15-20 years ago to make way for a Home Depot.
Note that your bottle may have held a similar product and also could have been made for use by other companies....this is just representative of one use for this style of bottle.
