Large clear container - What is it?

I have had this object for 45+ years, but I don't know what it was used for. It is 6 3/4 inches tall with the lid on and is 10 3/4 inches in diameter. The lid has a recessed glass handle. The rim of the container has a seal.

Looks like a refrigerator storage bowl. It's used for whatever you want to keep sealed in a refrigerator. Such bowls remain useful, but mostly they have been supplanted by microwave-safe plastic bowls.

About all I can tell you is that it is labware. I do not know of its specific use.

I've never seen a bowl shaped like this, the sides are straight as opposed to bowls that usually curve towards the base. And it's really large and heavy for putting in the fridge/taking it out. The thought that it could be labware never occurred to me. Thank you for your advice!
