Tequila bottle identification for feature film

Hi there!

I am a propmaster for a film set in mexico in 1950. I am trying to date tequila bottles (and some other liquors) from the era and it is quite difficult to find good photo research on the bottles and labels. I came across your site from a post about a 1921 herradura bottle that may well be what it looked like in the 40s too. I am wondering if you may be able to help or point me in a direction. At this time I am currently working on Jose Cuervo, Herradura, Sauza tequila bottles in the 1949-1951 range.

Thanks so much in advance for any ideas you may have!

Matt

  • Hi Matt,

    I have two suggestions:

    • reach out to the Tequilla companies directly to see if they may have an official or unofficial historian or marketing person who may be able to assist.
    • browse the internet and also specifically eBay for advertising. I quickly found Cuervo ads from the 1960s...perhaps you can find some earlier ones that feature pictures of the bottles.

Do let us know what you find!
