Glass and Bottle fragment identification assistance requests

We have a bunch of glass and bottle fragments that were pulled from caves that we want to identify. The first is this O-I Liquor Bottle base. It has the I within the O on the first line / then it reads LIQUOR BOTTLE / 1 3 77 is on the last line. On the side view it appears to have the bottoms of 3/4.

I would like to know the date this was made and any other information you would like to share.

Thank you very much,

  • Hi

That O-I mark (Owens Illinois Glass Co) has been used by that company since 1954, according to Julian Toulouse's book, Bottle Makers and Their Marks.
  • Any chance Toulouse's book says when they quit using that mark? I ask because if it was made after 1962 then I can't consider it historic and would then put it in the recycle pile.
