Rare bottle?

Bottle marked:
COL. SAM JOHNSON
PROPRIETOR
RICHMOND, VA
1852

Base marked:
MADE IN TAIWAN

  • You will see this bottle in both 3 and 6 inch tall sizes and in several colors.

    Although this is marked MADE IN TAIWAN on the base, I suspect this may have been commissioned by Wheaton Glass. I do know some exist which are marked WHEATON NJ on the base.

    Definitely not rare, dates to late 20th century. Wheaton made a variety of decorative bottles loosely based on 19th century originals.

  • One measure of value here is looking at closed auctions on ebay. These small Wheaton type bottles sell for a few dollars, sometimes they do not sell at all, sometimes a bit more.

    There is a bit of interest but understand that they are common.

  • I have 2 12 sides one blue which is real but I think the purple one is a reproduct
